Great source of protein for humans and animals. Great for baking, soups, stews, and Caribbean dishes. A larger string bean that when cooked is meaty and creamy and even better with melted butter. Adds nice color to the table.
Unique color gets kids intrigued for planting projects.
It can be used as tasty green beans when young and tender, or left to mature for attractive black and white beans dried for winter casseroles
70 – 90 days for dry beans. Open Pollinated. Bush type plant produces good yields of beans. Excellent choice for home gardens. The Orca bean is also known as "Calypso Bean" or the “Yin Yang” bean. An heirloom bean from Mexico which are a natural type of kidney bean hybrid. It is a distinctive colored bean with its striking contrast of black and white. Beans grow on a sturdy bush type plant that averages 38-45 cm (15-18”) tall with a spread that is 40-51cm (16-20”) wide. Usually there are 4-5 beans per pod. Orca beans double in size when cooked and have a smooth texture: 1 cup of dried beans = 2 cups of cooked beans. Excellent for soups and cooked beans.
