Organic Vates Collard green seeds
Vates Collard Greens (75 days)
Vates was a real producer in our 2008 garden trials. We had copious amounts of dark green tasty leaves. So much so the rabbits and chickens had a banner year!
32" tall, silvery green, succulent and very slow to bolt.
Best planted early like most brassicas they don't like extreme (90+) heat. Although, we grew Vates Collard Greens all year Try them again as a fall planting if your summers are too hot.
Vates Collard Greens is Recommended by the Following State Universities or Ag Extension Offices as a variety that performs well for their region. IL, FL, OR, TX,
Steam, boil or stir fry
Dark-green, cabbage-like, thick leaves
Collard greens are various loose-leafed cultivars of Brassica oleracea, a species that contains other vegetables, including cabbage and broccoli. Collard greens are part of the Acephala Group of the species, which includes kale and spring greens.
Heirloom seeds are hardy, but always take care with your garden seeds to give them the appropriate amount of moisture - don't let the vegetable seeds dry out prematurely, and don't overwater and possibly have them rot.
All my seeds come in reusable ziplock bags with planting instructions.
Please note if you order more than one of this item they will be shipped packaged all in one ziploc bag with one set of planting instruction unless otherwise requested
